Real Madrid wait as Arsenal up Vieira price

Arsenal are holding out for £24 million from Real Madrid to sign captain Patrick Vieira.

AS says a verbal agreement was struck at a price of £20 million for the French international, but the Gunners have since upped their demands by another £4 million over the past 72 hours.

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is already growing tired of Arsenal's delaying tactics and is refusing to match the London club's new price.

Those close to Perez say he would have been willing to go as high as £21.5 million, but not the extra £4 million Arsenal is now demanding.

The Real supremo remains confident he will land Vieira, knowing that Frenchman has already informed his manager, Arsene Wenger, that he wants out of Highbury.
