Modric, 38, is in his 12th season with Real Madrid and everything indicates that he will leave upon the end of his contract.
Right now, the veteran midfielder has already been contacted by Carlo Ancelotti as the Italian wants him to join his coaching staff but as reported before, Modric has respectfully rejected the proposal as he wishes to continue playing.
As of today, there are only speculations and nothing concrete. During the January transfer window and even last summer, several Saudi league sides approached the Croatian with heavy contracts, but he decided to stay put upon being asked by Ancelotti.
The 2023/24 season, however, hasn’t panned out as well as he would have hoped. He might have played 29 games across all competitions but hasn’t even clocked 800 minutes. In fact, the 38-year-old has started in just two his last five appearances for the team.
As a result, several teams have already been linked with his acquisition once his contract ends, among which are said to be Inter Miami from the Major League Soccer.
A sweet homecoming for Modric?
Apart from that, his former side Dinamo Zagreb are also willing to welcome him back, as quoted by the club president Mirko Barisic himself. Back in September, the club delegate mentioned that he would talk to Modric in January, but no details have been made public after that.
"He is in the last year of his contract, I will call him this winter, of course," said Barisic back in September.
So how could Dinamo not want Luka Modric back? I can’t say that I am in constant contact with him, but I know members of his family.
"It would make sense for him to return to Dinamo at the end of his career, why not? Dinamo will certainly do everything in its power to make it happen. Now, whether that will be enough, we will see," he added.
