Real Madrid turn to Roma ace De Rossi

Real Madrid are ready to launch a bid for Roma midfielder Daniele de Rossi.

El Mundo Deportivo says Real are eyeing De Rossi after giving up on Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso. Real GM Jorge Valdano admitted yesterday a deal for Xabi was unlikely.

De Rossi is seen as an ideal alternative, though the Italy international will take some convincing.

"I have committed my future and my loyalty to Roma. My hometown team for my whole life. I am loyal to my club and I will never leave. I do not care if other teams are interested in me," he said from South Africa.
