Real Madrid trump Man Utd for Oviedo defender

Real Madrid have trumped Manchester United for Real Oviedo defender Sergio.

The Spanish U21 international, who can play at left-back and in central defence, had trials at United over the summer.

However, Real have agreed terms with the youngster and are waiting on a Spanish tribunal to clear the deal.

Sergio has signed a Real contract, though he still has three years left on his Oviedo deal.

Real are likely to offer a compensation fee to Oviedo to smooth the transfer. Sergio's buyout clause is for £8 million.
