Real Madrid transfer news: Neymar bid report is ‘absolutely untrue’

Real deny claims made by Spain’s public service broadcaster TVE.

In response to media reports Real Madrid have issued an official statement denying any bid has been made for Paris Saint-Germain and Brazil star Neymar.

According to Television Espanola (TVE) - the public service broadcaster in Spain - it was claimed that Real had offered €310m (£274.43) to PSG for the 26-year-old forward.

Real have hit back, saying the reports are “entirely false”. The statement said: “In light of information broadcast by TVE regarding an alleged Real Madrid offer to PSG and their player Neymar, Real Madrid C.F. wishes to state that this information is absolutely untrue. Real Madrid has made no offer of any kind to PSG or the player. 

"Real Madrid are surprised that the Spanish public television network would choose to broadcast entirely false information without anyone from the outlet having first contacted any of the parties concerned to corroborate the supposed information, which would have been quite easily discredited."

Neymar joined PSG from Barcelona last year for a world-record transfer fee, but has continuously been linked with a move to Barca’s rivals Real. It’s claimed that Manchester United and Manchester City are also interested.

Currently at the World Cup in Russia, Neymar has helped Brazil reach the quarter-finals where they will face Belgium. He scored in Brazil’s 2-0 last-16 win against Mexico yesterday.
