Real Madrid Tracking Juventus Midfielder Felipe Melo

Acording to a report on Sport Mediaset, Spanish powerhouse Real Madrid are closely monitoring the situation of Brazilian international Felipe Melo, currently under contract with Serie A outfit Juventus.

The Blancos are looking to add a combative midfielder to their squad in the summer transfer window to partner Xabi Alonso in midfield and head coach Jose Mourinho had initially set his sights on Stuttgart star Sami Khedira. However, the Portuguese gaffer supposedly also sees Melo as a useful addition to his team.

The Brazilian international joined Juventus from Fiorentina in the summer of 2009, but he failed to live up to the high expectations in his first season in Turin and is widely expected to leave the Vecchia Signora again this summer.

Felipe Melo has previously been linked with a move to Arsenal, but the Gunners have yet to make an official offer for the 27-year-old.

Juventus are ready to cash in on Melo this transfer window, but it remains to be seen whether any club is willing to meet the Italian side's financial demands. The report suggests that Real Madrid are ready to include Dutch winger Royston Drenthe in the transfer.
