Real Madrid to start Villa bidding at £40M

Real Madrid are ready to open talks with Valencia over a mega deal for star striker David Villa.

Marca says Real's opening bid for the prolific forward will be £40 million as president Ramon Calderon attempts to secure the Spain star for next season.

Valencia management insist Villa won't leave for anything less than his buyout clause, however insiders say they are prepared to sell for £45 million.
