Real Madrid to splash out on Espanyol defender Sergio

Real Madrid are ready to cough up for Espanyol defender Sergio Sanchez.

The young stopper is currently playing for Real Madrid B and their coach Michel, along with the club's sports director Pedja Mijatovic, are convinced he could eventually graduate to the first team.

Sergio can be signed permanently by Real for a fee rising to £3.5 million and Mijatovic has already made contact with Espanyol to confirm their intentions.
