Real Madrid to spend Ronaldo cash on Van der Vaart, Villa

Real Madrid are ready to spend the £60 million put aside for Manchester United winger Cristiano Ronaldo on a handful of star signings.

Sport says Real are so pessimistic over the prospect of landing Ronaldo that they're already pushing through plans for alternative transfer targets.

Valencia striker David Villa is Calderon's priority, who would fetch £30 million. Real coach Bernd Schuster, meanwhile, wants Hamburg midfielder Rafael van der Vaart.
