Real Madrid to send Martin Odegaard out on loan in January

Martin Odegaard was tipped to leave Real Madrid on loan last month but was unable to secure a move away from Spain because of his age.

FIFA rules stipulate that players under the age of 18 are not permitted to join a club in a different country to their employers, so the likes of West Ham, Rennes, Hamburg and Bayer Leverkusen were all left disappointed.

However, Spanish newspaper AS have been told that an agreement is in place to take Odegaard out of Spain for the remainder of the 2016-17 campaign in January.

Odegaard turns 18 in December and, if all goes to plan, he will become a Rennes player in the new year.

Sources within the French club have told AS that they already have an agreement with Real Madrid and that they expect the deal to be finalised in four months’ time.
