The Real Madrid phenom was expected to face up to 10 weeks out on the sidelines after his injury on international duty.
And Real Madrid were expected to receive a compensation of over €850,000 as part of FIFA’s Club Protection Programme.
Against all odds, the Real Madrid winger has managed to shorten his recovery period and is already back in the squad as of January 2nd.
Needless to say, Vinicius’ return is a massive boost to Los Blancos’ in view of the hectic schedule ahead and he could make his return to the field later tonight against Mallorca.
While the Brazilian’s return is indeed a reason to celebrate, his early return also sees a drastic reduction in the compensation Real Madrid will receive from FIFA.
As relayed by Mundo Deportivo, FIFA’s compensation from the Club Protection Program only kicks into action 28 days after a player’s injury on international duty. That date, in the Brazilian’s case, happens to be the 14th of December.
Keeping the fixed daily compensation of €20,548, the twenty-day window after the aforementioned date computes a total compensation of €410,960 that must arrive from the FIFA offices to the Santiago Bernabeu.
The figure is less than half of what was initially anticipated, but Real Madrid will not bat an eye over it for the player’s recovery is far more valuable.
Vinicius Jr’s much-anticipated return is expected later today at Santiago Bernabeu against Mallorca, but he will not be the only big injury return on the night.
Dani Carvajal has also received the medical all-clear ahead of the game and is expected to return to his starting role down the right flank on the night. Moreover, Arda Guler is in the squad for the first time and could make his much-awaited debut.
Another boost Ancelotti is set to receive in the coming days is that of Eduardo Camavinga who is already training with the group. The Frenchman could well be back in the dynamics for the upcoming Copa del Rey clash.
