Real Madrid to offer Newcastle £9M for Woodgate

Real Madrid are keen on Newcastle United defender Jonathan Woodgate.

Despite his injury concerns, the Guardian says the Spanish club are prepared to pay around £9m for the England and Newcastle United central defender.

Real coach Jose Antonio Camacho has demanded a new centre-half to play alongside summer signing Walter Samuel.

Along with Woodgate, Inter Milan's Fabio Cannavaro is also under consideration.
