Real Madrid To Launch Bid For Sevilla Full-Back Adriano

Real Madrid are set to make a January offer for Sevilla’s left-sided utility man Adriano, according to reports from Spain.

Marca believes that Los Blancos are looking for a solution to their problem left-back position, with current options Marcelo and Dutchman Royston Drenthe failing to establish themselves as a regular first-team choice.

Los Blancos are thought to have made a tentative enquiry to the Rojiblancos as to the availability of the 25-year old Brazilian, who joined Sevilla in 2004 and has made over 100 appearances for the Andalusian side.

Adriano is contracted until 2014 and it is thought that coach Manolo Jimenez will fight to reject any advances from the capital club.

However, the player is said to be keen on a move to the Santiago Bernabeu and if the clubs can agree a valuation, then a deal could be concluded during the winter transfer window. One stumbling block may potentially be the player's inability to play in the Champions League as a result of Sevilla’s participation in this season’s tournament.

Adriano, who can also operate in a left-midfield position as well as at right-back, has been capped eight times for his country and netted the opening goal as Sevilla clinched the UEFA cup crown in 2007.
