Real Madrid to hand Casillas new 2010 contract

Real Madrid are set to secure goalkeeper Iker Casillas to a new, long-term contract.

The Spanish international is set to open talks with Real officials over a deal which would keep him at the club until 2010.

Casillas' current deal expires in 2006 and he said: "I have not spoken with the club about my renovation, but to do so would be excellent."

"If the club is happy with me, I suppose that they will tell me."

"I've been here for eight years, it would be very difficult to leave."
