In fact, it is said that the manager, Carlo Ancelotti, believes in his potential a lot so much so that he is ready to give the 18-year-old a run in the first team this season.
Nico was on the bench at the Power Horse Stadium when Real Madrid took on Almeria and although the midfielder remained an unused substitute, it goes on to show the level of trust Ancelotti has in the youngster.
The eventual plan for the youngster s to combine minutes with the first team and Castilla this season.
Adding to the news, journalist Rodra has affirmed that Nico not only has the manager on his side but even the first-team players love the midfielder.
The 18-year-old has earned the love and respect of the Real Madrid dressing room and the reporter adds that the senior team members truly believe in his potential.
Now, although the 18-year-old did not get to play against Almeria, one cannot overlook the fact that he did train with the team as part of the preparation, and in the next 12 hours, he was seen playing for Raul’s Castilla.
The subsidiary team took on Rayo Majadahonda in their last friendly before starting the new season in the Primera Federación – Group 1 on Sunday. And Nico scored a goal in a 3-0 win.
As far as his first-team chances are concerned, the trip to the United States helped him a lot.
Among the lot, veteran midfielder Toni Kroos was quite impressed with Nico’s style of play so much so that he wished the youngster could always train with the first team.
"He’s great, he should always train with us," he said.
Nico’s coaches in Valdebebas know that the player loves to shoulder more responsibilities.
"He has a lot of personality. He asks for it when others hide. He wants to win the game himself. And he has a very Argentine character, to trust himself a lot, both to joke and to take responsibility," a source was quoted by Rodra.
Young Nico has shown great potential thus far and judging by his growing involvement in the first-team dynamics, it might not be very late before he makes his debut for Ancelotti’s team.
