Real Madrid superstar makes shock managerial request

Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo wants Michael Laudrup to take the reins at the Bernabeu.

Zinedine Zidane quit Los Blancos last week having guided the Spanish heavyweights to a third consecutive Champions League triumph.

Arsene Wenger, Mauricio Pochettino, Jurgen Klopp and Joachim Low have all been touted as potential replacements.

However, according to Spanish media outlet Diario Gol, Ronaldo is keen for Laudrup to be given the nod.

Laudrup had a hugely decorated playing career - and spent two years at Real - but has had mixed success as a coach.

He’s just stopped managing in Qatar following an ill-fated stint in the Premier League with Swansea.

Real already know who will replace Zidane according to former supremo Ramon Calderon.

He told LoveSport radio: "Knowing him, Florentino Perez, well I think he knew a few weeks ago that Zidane would leave and already he’s made his mind up about the new coach."

"I don’t know who it will be but he will know and will have been in touch with someone."

"We know that he offered the manager’s job to Wenger a few years ago but I don’t know if he feels the same now."

"It’s also known that he offered the position to Joachim Low, the coach of the German national team."
