Real Madrid Striker Huntelaar Downplays Guti Incident

Klaas-Jan Huntelaar has come out and said that Real Madrid have not spoken about the situation with Guti and that they will keep fighting for the title.

The Spanish midfielder is reported to have refused to enter the match after starting on the bench in the game against Malaga and that has been followed with claims that he may leave in the summer.

Huntelaar told the press today though that it is something that has "not been spoken about in the dressing room".

"The only thing that I saw was that it was heating up. I was getting changed, I had just come off the pitch and I did not see anything more," he is reported as saying by Marca when asked about the game.

With regards to La Primera and the chase for the title, Huntelaar declared that they will "continue fighting as a team".

"What we want is to win and be champions. We know each other well and we want to train well and fight to close the gap on Barcelona and to be champions," he assured.

"We are playing very well. I think that tactically, Juande [Ramos] is very good. He puts the players where they have to be and where they play best."

Certainly with Ramos in charge Madrid have looked like a more complete team and have been more successful than in the first part of the season.

However, they still need Barcelona to lose matches and Huntelaar believes that what is important is that "they show signs of exhaustion and we can close the gap".

The striker was also questioned about his own form, which has improved dramatically lately, but said "what is important is to keep winning games".
