Real Madrid Stars Xabi Alonso & Sergio Ramos Confident Of Overturning Lyon Deficit

Real Madrid stars Xabi Alonso and Sergio Ramos are confident that los Merengues can overturn their one goal deficit when they take on Lyon in the second-leg of their UEFA Champions League round-of-16 tie.

A lacklustre Madrid were beaten at Stade Gerland in the first leg thanks to a stunning goal from Jean Makoun but they were fortunate to come away from the game just one goal in arrears and Ramos called for the side to remain calm.

"We must be calm and hope to turn the tie around. We still have 90 minutes ahead and I hope we can turn the score around. We had opportunities to score, but failed to take them. We must correct the mistakes we made. I had a chance to score with my head and I would have liked to have taken it," he is quoted as saying by AS.

Alonso admitted that his team did not have a good game but noted that they have what it takes to turn things around in the second leg.

"There are 90 minutes to play at the Bernabeu. The 1-0 scoreline is perfectly retrievable. We wanted to have gotten a better result but it could not be. We have to think about the return game," Alonso remarked.

"This is a squad with the belief we can qualify. It was a tough match. They were very intense, but so are we. We lacked ball control and it is not a good outcome."
