Real Madrid stars: Woodgate will make it here

The prospect of Jonathan Woodgate making the Real Madrid first team for the opening weeks of the new season have been given the thumbs up by two of his defensive teammates.
 
Ivan Helguera and Paco Pavon are both backing their English teammate to overcome his long-term injury problems after he began training with the rest of the senior squad last week.

Pavon told AS: "The fans can be calm because he is coming along very well. He'll play, for sure. He only lacks match fitness, which will take time. I hope for the good of him and the club he fully recovers."

Helguera also remarked: "Yes, he will play. He is showing all the desire in the world. He is training with us and it is not easy because he has been out for a year."

"He is trying and he puts everything into his work. I know that he will make it."
