Real Madrid star rounds off impressive international break with stellar display against Belgium

Real Madrid star Eduardo Camavinga has completed an encouraging international break with another impressive performance for France.

He delivered a commanding midfield display against Belgium before returning to Real Madrid for club football.

The Los Blancos midfield star completed 89% of his passes, but it was his defensive contribution that particularly stood out.

Camavinga recorded eight recoveries and four interceptions against Belgium, along with six defensive contributions, without committing a single foul.

Those numbers capture much of what makes the Frenchman such an intriguing midfielder when he is playing with confidence.

He can cover enormous amounts of space, disrupt opposition attacks and then immediately help move possession forward.

His 11 passes into the final third against Belgium showed that this was not simply a defensive performance either.

Camavinga was helping France regain possession and then pushing their attacks closer to goal in a game they spent chasing for a significant period.

More importantly for Real Madrid and Jose Mourinho, this was not an isolated encouraging appearance.

Camavinga also impressed during his previous international outing, completing 62 of his 66 passes, creating three chances and recording five recoveries.

The consistency is what Madrid will care about most. Camavinga’s talent has never really been the question.

The challenge has been putting together a sustained run of games where his physical qualities, defensive instincts and technical ability all appear in the same performance.

Mourinho will now hope Camavinga can carry that momentum back to Madrid.

Competition in midfield is fierce, particularly with Aurelien Tchouameni and Fede Valverde offering Mourinho defensive security.

Meanwhile, Bernardo Silva offers a different kind of profile. With Madrid facing a defensive crisis and Tchouameni a central-defensive candidate, it could open the door for Camavinga in the upcoming game against Villarreal.

Three encouraging displays during an international break are not enough to make a summer, but Camavinga is heading back to the Spanish capital with renewed confidence.

It remains to be seen whether this is yet another false start in the talented Frenchman’s career or the moment when his Madrid career turns around.
