Real Madrid star responds to Barcelona spokesperson’s comments on Vinicius Jr: “Lamentable”

With the match between Barcelona and Real Madrid just a few days away, tensions between the two clubs could be set to rise after the events of yesterday night.

Real Madrid faced SC Braga in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday and came out with a 2-1 victory courtesy of goals from Rodrygo and Jude Bellingham.

However, away from the matters on the field, there was a controversy sparked as Barcelona board member Mikel Camps launched an outburst against Real Madrid’s Vinicius Jr, hitting out at the Brazilian for his showboating.

"It’s not racism, he deserves a slap for being a clown and a joker. What do these unnecessary and meaningless bicycles represent in the centre of the field?," he wrote on X/Twitter, before deleting his post.

While he may have taken down the post, Camps’ words on social media attracted a lot of attention.

And, speaking after the match, Real Madrid forward and Vinicius’ compatriot, Rodrygo Goes, hit back at Camps’ comments, terming it as ‘lamentable’.

"The tweet by the Barça spokesman about Vinicius is lamentable," he told El Chiringuito TV.

It is no secret that things are already tense between Barcelona and Real Madrid and this development could serve to stir up things further, especially with the two teams set to face off in the Clasico on Saturday at Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys.
