Real Madrid Star Esteban Granero Not Envious Of Success Of Barcelona's Homegrown Talent

Real Madrid midfielder Esteban Granero has insisted that he is not envious of the success enjoyed by rivals Barcelona.

Granero came through the ranks after joining the club as an eight year old but has seen bitter rivals from Catalunya enjoy unprecedented success with homegrown talent, setting new records in football by claiming six trophies in 2009.

"My dream always was to play for Madrid and here I am in the same situation as them at Barca. The difference is that they follow our model from childhood and it helps them fitting into the first team," he said of Barca's canteranos, the clubs youth team products.

"Barca would like to have most of our players. We are a team with a different style,no better or worse, and we will fight them to the death. We identify with them and we believe we can overcome Barca."

Granero is aware that Barcelona have achieved unprecedented success and have a healthy lead in the current league campaign but he insists there is a long way to go.
