Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo is hoping to be fit in time for Sunday's crucial Primera Division tie away to Sevilla, according to AS.

Ronaldo had been expected to miss the game after picking up an ankle injury which ruled him out of the final twenty minutes of the 3-0 win over Marseille in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday but he now believes that he can be fit in time for the trip to Andalusia.

"I have a few days to recover and hopefully will be fine for Sunday. I think I will get to Seville," Ronaldo is quoted as saying.

The game will be the toughest test of the season so far for Los Merengues and coach Manuel Pellegrini will obviously be keen to have all his best players available for selection when they take on Manolo Jimenez's in-form Sevilla side.

Ronaldo is apparently doing double training sessions at the training ground at Valdebebas in an effort to be fit for Sunday but it is understood that he will not feature if not 100 per cent fit.

With international duties resuming on Wednesday, Portugal coach Carlos Quieroz will be watching events unfold with great interest as his side look to secure at least a World Cup play-off place.
