Real Madrid squad welcomed Xabi with big round of applause

Real Madrid's players gave Xabi Alonso a big round of applause as he joined training yesterday for the first time.

The former Liverpool midfielder passed his medical in the morning before having his first training session as a Real player in the afternoon. Upon taking the field, his new teammates were already doing their warm-ups and burst into a spontaneous round of applause.

Xabi has signed a five-year deal with Real worth £4 million-a-season and will be on Real's jet bound for Toronto today.
