Real Madrid signing Woodgate now running

Jonathan Woodgate began running for the first time since joining Real Madrid last week.

The England international centre-half joined Real with a leg injury, which Madrid doctors believe will be cleared up inside three weeks.

"Everything is going very well," said Woodgate yesterday. "The injury is a lot better and I hope to return as quickly as possible to training. I am adapting very well to the team. There is a group of very good people here."

Woodgate's debut is expected to be the September 11 clash against Numancia.
