Real Madrid Showed Brilliance Against Milan - Alvaro Arbeloa

Alvaro Arbeloa believes that the first half against Milan was Real Madrid's best display of the season, though he was left to rue their inability to strike more than once.

The Spain international defender was impressed with the way that Los Merengues showed what they are capable of with a convincing opening 45 minutes in the San Siro.

Despite their domination, Madrid were unable to claim all three points. Arbeloa thinks that the dip after the interval may have been due to their weekend exertions.

"I think we performed brilliantly in the first half; we had 16 shots on target," he was quoted as saying by the club's official website.

"Overall, I think they were the best 45 minutes we've had all season and we had a chance to finish off the game."

"Milan were slightly better in the second half and we lacked freshness. We played with just ten men for many minutes on Saturday and I guess it may have affected us."

"We believe we must be organised and continue to improve."
