Real Madrid sends Ruben to Gladbach

Borussia Monchengladbach have swooped for Real Madrid defender Ruben.

The Spanish U21 international has signed on-loan to the end of the season and rejected two offers from La Liga clubs to move to the Bundesliga.

"The player is delighted with this new opportunity in Germany," declared Ruben's agent yesterday. "He is convinced he can be successful and leaves determined to prove himself a great centre-half."
