Real Madrid Sells Mariano To Olympique Lyonnais

Real Madrid have officially announced on their website that Mariano has been sold to Olympique Lyonnais.

The reported transfer fee is €8 million and Mariano will receive €4 million according to Cadena Ser. Madrid will also supposedly get 40% of any future sale of Mariano and MARCA is reporting that Real will have a two year option to buy him back, so this looks like good business from Florentino Perez. Mariano was never going to get significant minutes at Madrid and it appears that this benefits both clubs involved and the player sold. Real get a sizable fee and possible future revenue for a bit-part player, Lyon get a capable back-up, and Mariano gets his playing time.

With Morata reportedly ready to depart as well, it seems likelier than ever that Los Blancos try to buy another forward this transfer window.
