Real Madrid sell record 8,000 Beckham shirts in first day

Real Madrid's official merchandise shop sold over 8,000 David Beckham No23 shirts yesterday afternoon.

The figure smashed all retails records, easily surpassing the previous best of 2,000 for Ronaldo last year.

Beckham's No23 shirt didn't go on sale until 12:00noon on Wednesday and by 6:30pm all 8,000 of the shop's supply had been sold out.

The price of an individual shirt is approximately £55 and Real expect to shift over million units of their No23 before the end of the season.
