Real Madrid scour Bundesliga for transfer targets

Real Madrid are scouring the foreign market for new defensive options.

After concentrating for the past two seasons on their attack, Real are now opening their chequebook to add steel to their star-studded squad.

Bayern Munich wing-back Phillip Lahm, who spent last season on-loan at Stuttgart, is being tracked along with teammate Andreas Hinkel.

Benfica's Brazilian international stopper Luisao and River Plate defender Ariel Garce are also in Real's sights.

Its been suggested Real president Florentino Perez hopes to land one of the Germans before Saturday and the kickoff of the European championships.
