Real Madrid's Woodgate to miss Barcelona clash

Real Madrid defender Jonathan Woodgate is facing fresh injury worries after limping off in Sunday's 1-0 win against Real Zaragoza.
 
The central defender had been expected to be included in Sven-Göran Eriksson's England squad to play Argentina on Saturday, but he now faces an anxious wait to discover the extent of his latest injury.

Woodgate had to leave the Bernabéu pitch after 23 minutes, having clasped the back of his leg as he turned to cover a Zaragoza attack.

The first indications were that it was not a recurrence of the career-threatening thigh injury that kept him out for 17 months after signing from Newcastle United.

Indeed, it's believed it could be a pinched nerve, with Woody undergoing scans earlier today.

The England international left Sunday's game before the final whistle as he was too upset to take questions from the waiting media. The fear at Real is that he won't be fit for the November 19 showdown with Barcelona.
