Real Madrid's Van Nistelrooy: I'm in best shape of career

Real Madrid striker Ruud van Nistelrooy says he is now fitter than he has ever been in his career.
 
Reacting to reports that Primera Liga footballers train less than their Premiership counterparts, Van Nistelrooy declared: "Here we work every day, two hours a day. For that reason I am physically at the best moment of my life. I feel very good and I enjoy working on the many things in the training, the tactical thing, the physical and technical. Every day is something new at Real Madrid."

The former Manchester United striker also dismissed reports that he is upset because his contract carries no bonus if he finishes the season as the Liga's top scorer.

"I am not concerned that no bonus was offered to me. The important thing for me is to win. My work is to help the team score the greatest number of goals possible. You arrive in a new country, to a style of different game. Seven months later it is a normal season, there's ten games left and being top scorer is not my personal objective. I want to win titles. That's the most important."
