Real Madrid's Valdano: Fans will be delighted with player spirit

Real Madrid sports chief Jorge Valdano said at the end of last night's Madrid derby that the "spirit of the shirt" was shown by the players.

"The public of Madrid must be proud because this game was won with quality and fight," he said.

"It was important to win. It was a game where the team was under great pressure, we have won with class and with fight, being very ambitious."

"We survived the sending off of Pavon, and with good spirit. This is going to help us on Sunday to make a great game against Barcelona."
