Real Madrid's Salgado fumes as Chelsea link emerges

Real Madrid fullback Michel Salgado is again being linked with a move to Chelsea.

The Spanish international, regarded as the best right-back on the continent, only signed a new contract last year after several months of speculation over a potential move to Stamford Bridge.

Salgado was linked with a summer move to Stamford Bridge by a local newspaper and so infuriated was the defender that he cancelled a post-training media conference.

His agent, Gine Carvajal, fronted journalists later in the day and declared: "It does not make sense that we're talking now of Chelsea, as Michel has just finished renewing his contract."

"He is player of Real Madrid for the next six years, unless the club wants to sell. I do not have anything to talk about with (Real president) Florentino Perez because we already have a contract that is signed and has a clause of £40 million."

He added, "Florentino and Valdano have been fighting for Michel to re-sign for three months and they are not going to now throw all that hard work away."
