Real Madrid's Ronaldo upset as he chases down Messi

Cristiano Ronaldo was visibly upset at being substituted in Real Madrid's whitewash of Xerez on Sunday.

Despite scoring twice on the night, there were no smiles from the Portuguese star as he was replaced on 79 minutes.

Sources close to Ronaldo say he was convinced he could score again with Xerez flagging. The former Manchester United forward is determined to successfully translate his free-scoring form in England to Spain.

Ronaldo considers Barcelona star Lionel Messi his great personal rival and is determined to finish above the Argentine on the Liga scoring charts this season.
