Real Madrid's Rafael Van Der Vaart: Kaka And I Can Play Together

With Kaka out until 2010 with a groin injury, Dutch international  Rafael Van Der Vaart has enjoyed something of a renaissance with Real Madrid after being largely discounted for a bulk of the early season in the wake of the new 'Galactico' era.

The Dutchman has largely been used as a direct replacement for the Brazilian magician during his injury spell, but has recently stated that he and Kaka would be more than effective if sharing the attacking midfield duties with each other.

"At the moment, I am really enjoying myself and I have a lot of confidence", expressed the Dutchman who emphasised his desire to continue getting minutes by stating that "Kaka and I can play together".

The midfielder also passed comment on Madrid's pivotal win at Valencia last Saturday, saying: "Not only did we win, but we played very well, like a great team. It was a difficult match because Valencia are a strong team at home, but now we have the confidence to win a lot of matches".

On Pepe's injury, Van der Vaart said he is "very sad" over such a "devastating injury". "He is one of the best defenders in the world and we are saddened by his loss. I have given him my support, but it is difficult to say anything of meaning in these difficult times". The Dutchman emphasised that despite the Portuguese's loss, Madrid still have "plenty of quality players like Albiol, Garay and Metzelder who can play the central defensive position".

Finally, the Dutchman expressed that he is happy at the Spanish capital, at least at the moment, rubbishing rumours that he is searching for football away from the Real Madrid.
