Real Madrid's Pepe: I want to be like Cannavaro

Real Madrid signing Pepe has shrugged off his £20 million price-tag.

Presented to the local media yesterday, the Brazilian-born defender declared: "The fee has nothing to do with me. It's the business of Real Madrid and Porto.

"I'm excited to be here and to also to be playing alongside Fabio Cannavaro. He is a fantastic centre-half - the best in the world. I do not have words to describe Cannavaro - I hope to be as good as him one day."

Pepe revealed he'll soon gain his Portuguese passport: "I've already made the decision to play for Portugal. I want to thank all the people who showed their faith in me when I arrived in that country. I feel a little Portuguese."
