Real Madrid's Owen: Gerrard key to Liverpool Euro success

Real Madrid striker Michael Owen says the form of Steven Gerrard will decide if Liverpool - or Chelsea - reach this season's Champions League final.
 
Owen said: "They will need big performances from everyone, but Stevie's a massive player for Liverpool."

"But you can't have just two or three players playing well against Chelsea, it's got to be eight or nine. If Gerrard has a good game then usually the whole team does."

Owen fears Liverpool's best chance of securing a Champions League spot next season is to lift the trophy with their hopes of fourth-spot in Premiership fading fast.

He added: "The Crystal Palace defeat sums up Liverpool's season - one minute they're flying and then they'll have a dodgy result."

"Now it's at the stage where one game could make or break the season - and that's on Wednesday."
