Real Madrid's Owen desperate for Liverpool return

Real Madrid striker Michael Owen wants a return to Liverpool.

Owen has insisted in public that he is happy at the Bernabeu and prepared to fight for his place. But, in private, he feels unsettled and fears he will never win a regular place as a Real starter.
 
But the only way Liverpool could bring Owen back to Merseyside would be on loan.

And, while the Reds will be interested in a season-long deal, Real are not expected to back the idea.

The Spanish giants will only consider off-loading the England ace for cash and would want to make a profit by demanding a fee of at least £12m.

Owen, 25, is with the Real squad on their tour of America but he is keen to return to England before the start of the season.

Despite failing to nail down a regular Real spot, he scored 14 goals in 22 starts in his first season.

But Owen does not want to be a bit-part player again this time around.

With the World Cup next year, he wants to be fully involved - and in the Premiership.
