Real Madrid's Morientes on verge of Chelsea move

Real Madrid striker Fernando Morientes has revealed he is on the verge of permanent transfer out of the Bernabeu.

The Spanish international will officially leave Real next week after his commitments with AS Monaco are concluded.

Morientes told L'Equipe, "I am 90 out of 100 percent sure that I will be joining a new club."

"We are very near a solution. The club appeals a lot to me, but nothing more can be said until the contract is finalised."

Morientes has been linked with Arsenal, Juventus and AS Roma, but L'Equipe says the centre-forward is on his way to Chelsea in an £8 million deal.

Morientes is also said to have verbally agreed to a five-year contract with the Blues.
