Real Madrid's Manuel Pellegrini: This Team Is Hungry

In his pre-match press conference, Real Madrid coach Manuel Pellegrini showed confidence in his team's chances of beating Lyon in the second leg of their Champions League knockout match and progressing through to the quarter-finals for the first time in the past six years.

In comments reported by Marca, Pellegrini declared: "We are playing very well and we are motivated. We are conscious of what we have to do and I hope that we play as we did in the final 70 minutes of match against Sevilla."

Pellegrini also spoke of Lyon's potential, but believes that his team should come out of the gates ready to play. "We do not need to mount an epic comeback. I am sure we are going to progress even though Lyon are strong rivals. We have to play a very good match. Then we will see how far we can get in the Champions League."

The Chilean did not reveal anything as far as his starting XI was concerned, but did reveal that his squad was hungry for a win. "We have a hunger in the squad that is reflected on the pitch; the players want to win a title."

Finally, Pellegrini anticipated a strong Bernabeu crowd. "The environment at the Bernabeu is going to be special. We need to take advantage of this because our rivals are going to make things difficult for us. We need our public as they were against Sevilla. We only lost by a minimal result in the first leg and I think we can come back."
