Real Madrid's Karim Benzema Looking Forward To Facing Olympique Lyonnais

The draw for the first knockout round in the Champions League threw up a special tie for Karim Benzema, as he will travel with Real Madrid to face his former side Olympique Lyonnais.

Benzema spent five years with les Gones prior to making a €35 million transfer to the free-spending Merengues this summer, but he revealed to L'Equipe that he is "really pleased" to have the chance to face his old side.

"To play against Lyon means a lot," the 22-year-old added, before analysing the clash itself.

"Lyon will be a difficult opponent. They are a team of good players who have a lot of experience in the Champions League. It will be tough, but we'll get through it," he mused.

The Frenchman turns 22 today, and he will be hoping for a birthday goal when Real Madrid face Real Zaragoza in the Primera Division tonight.

Los Blancos are currently five points behind Barcelona in the league standings, although the champions have played a game more. They will have the chance to cut the deficit against los Blanquillos, who currently reside in the relegation zone.
