Real Madrid's Iker Casillas: The Team Needs Continuity

In comments reported by Marca, Real Madrid keeper Iker Casillas spoke in a post-training press conference in favour of coach Manuel Pellegrini and highlighted the importance of "giving continuity and confidence to the current team".

"I have always liked continuity and confidence, but I am not the one to decide such matters," said the No. 1. "I will always speak in favour of allowing a project to develop, but I do not make the decisions. From his first day in training and press conferences, I have seen Manuel [Pellegrini] as coherent and competent. We hope to have some stability."

As for the final match of La Liga, which sees the club travel to Malaga trailing leaders Barcelona by a single point, Casillas insisted that Los Blancos still have a chance. "Anything can happen, from the worst to the best, but we cannot forget that we also have a match and first we have to make sure we win our match."

Asked to summarise the season, Casillas gave a mixed review. "We would have liked to do better in other competitions and the Champions League was one of our greater objectives, but our failures have been somewhat overshadowed by what we have done in La Liga, where we have had an incredible season. The fans should be happy with our progress in this competition."
