Real Madrid’s Iker Casillas Looking For Liga Miracle

Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas is still hoping for the unthinkable, that Barcelona slip up at home to Valladolid this weekend and allow los Blancos to pip them to the post.

"We know it won't be easy to win the title," Casillas told the club's official website.

"We'll have to win and wait. Barcelona won the title in a situation like the one we are in now 17 or 18 years ago. Real Madrid had to win in Tenerife and they lost. I was very young, but I remember. It seemed impossible for Real Madrid to lose, but they did and Barcelona took the title."

Real travel to Malaga this weekend, one point behind their fierce rivals, in the climax to a season that has seen los Blancos break the Spanish record for league wins, with 31 victories in 37 matches.

"It's a shame only one team can win the title because both have had a great season. Barcelona have the advantage and they deserve to have it," he continued.

"It won't be easy to win the title. Everything seems to be against us, but there is much at stake for Valladolid; they don't want to be relegated. There are also high stakes for Malaga. Both matches will be complicated. We'll see what's happened at 21:00."
