Real Madrid's Del Bosque puts on brave face after Mallorca shock

Real Mallorca shocked Real Madrid last night with a stunning 5-1 win at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Madrid went into half-time holding a comfortable 1-0 lead through Ronaldo, but were blown apart in the second-half by some brilliant individual goals from Mallorca.

Walter Pandiani, Albert Riera Ortega, Samuel Etoo, Carlos and an own goal from Roberto Carlos completed the incredible rout.

Afterwards, Real Madrid trainer Vicente del Bosque attempted to put on a brave face, despite the humiliation.

"This is a professional world and these things can happen for a club like ours that is leading the Liga, in the semifinals of the Champions and playing good football," he said.

"Mallorca has been better than us today, but I have too much experience for such a result to hurt me."

He continued, "It is true we have conceded too many goals recently. But we're not going to panic.

"We were happy with our first-half, but Mallorca has done brilliantly in the second. Their finishing was superb and they deserved to win tonight."
