Real Madrid's Del Bosque confirms furious Morientes row

Real Madrid trainer Vicente del Bosque has confirmed the amazing row he had with striker Fernando Morientes during Thursday's match against Borussia Dortmund.

Morientes allegedly refused to take the field for Real when asked by Del Bosque to go on as a 87th minute substitute. Instead, he aimed a foul-mouthed blast at his trainer, which not only shocked Del Bosque but also most of the bench.

Del Bosque confirmed yesterday: "There was an incident during the game against Borussia Dortmund."

"But I stress that the player came to apologise to me in the morning, knowing that he was in the wrong."

"I am not happy that this has been made public, but am not going to deny it took place."

Indeed, Del Bosque is more concerned with how the incident made its way to the Spanish media.

"I suspected this might be leaked. But if someone inside the club has done this, then it hurts me."

"But we all know how these things work, so you cannot be too surprised."
