Real Madrid's Capello to call time on coaching career

Real Madrid coach Fabio Capello is set to make this season his last in football.

DiarioSport says Capello will not only leave Madrid at the end of this season, but also announce his retirement from management.

The former Juventus and AC Milan coach has told close friends he's tired of the constant pressure at Real and hurt by the dents his reputation have copped this season in Spain.

Capello won't indicate publicly his plans as he is determined to secure a major compensation pay-out from his contract, which still has two years to run. He knows Real are already sounding out replacements for next season, but won't make it easy for president Ramon Calderon by falling on his own sword.

For his part, Real sports director Pedja Mijatovic, who has been caught in the fallout over Capello's reign, insists the Italian still has a future in Madrid.

"If we win the Liga, the logical thing will be that he continues in his position," he said.
