Real Madrid's Capello denies board interference after win

Real Madrid coach Fabio Capello insists he is in charge of team selection after last night's morale-boosting victory over Bayern Munich.

Asked about reports of interference from directors over his pre-match plans, Capello said after the 3-2 win: "I have not spoken with the president (Ramon Calderon). And neither (Pedja) Mijatovic nor (Franco) Baldini have stuck their nose in about selection. No-one has asked me about my selection - if they did there would be trouble."

Meanwhile, Capello admits his players froze at 3-1 and lamented conceding a final goal: "For the team, when we were winning 3-1, fear began to creep in."

"I can't explain it. If you've played football you'll know what I'm talking about. We haven't scored many goals at the Bernabeu, then you get this chance and you become scared. Psychological fear."

On his own future, Capello was adamant: "Since July 4 when I was appointed, I've been under pressure. I continue working with great seriousness. There are many out there who do not like the work we do."
