Real Madrid's Cannavaro blames poor form on media commitments

Real Madrid defender Fabio Cannavaro has blamed his poor form this season on the amount of interviews he's been doing!

"It has been a difficult year with many photographs, interviews and profiles," said the Ballon d'Or winner and FIFA World Player of the Year.

"I am a player who needs to be 100 per cent concentrated on his work and this season I have been unable to do that."

The former Juventus captain has struggled to adapt to La Liga and has not been up to his usual standards for the Italy squad either.

"I paid the price for these distractions with a below par performance, because it is depressing to work hard on the field and yet not play well as your mind is so cluttered with non-football considerations. I came to Madrid to play football, not travel the world picking up various awards."
