Real Madrid's Angel Di Maria: We hit Olympique Lyonnais on the counter attack

Real Madrid attacker Angel Di Maria has voiced his opinion that the Santiago Bernabeu side's superb counter attacks helped them to the full three points in Tuesday night's Champions League Group D win over Olympique Lyonnais.

"Lyon waited deep in their own half looking to strike on the break. We controlled the ball well, though, and knew how to take advantage of our own counter-attacks," the Argentine said, according to UEFA.com.

Strikes from Karim Benzema, Sami Khedira, Hugo Lloris (og) and Sergio Ramos helped Madrid to a comfortable 4-0 home win and Di Maria was quite pleased with his outfit's display.

"With nine points on the board, we know we now go to Lyon with an advantage in the group before facing Dinamo Zagreb at home and let's hope those games go as well as tonight's did. We played football with a lot of movement this evening," DiMaria said.

"The team is playing really well and you don't notice who is coming in and out of the first XI because everything is working for us. It's important we continue in this way."
